Poster Abstract: Geographic Forwarding and Adaptive Load Balancing in Wireless Sensor Networks

چکیده
In this poster, we wish to present some novel results achieved in the field of cross-layer geographic routing protocol design. Our protocol encompasses different operating features that are aimed at an overall best effort optimization of delivery performance and routing efficiency. Namely, it uses a joint MAC and routing message handshake to select one of the available relays and routes toward a common final sink. It includes a means for routing around connectivity holes and a back-to-back data transmission to improve channel use once access rights are achieved. Our results indicat that this protocol is simple in concept and thus fairly easy to implement on real motes, while offering a good performance in terms of delivery effectiveness.

Efficient Forwarding With Power Saving and Load Balancing In Wireless Sensor Networks
Energy efficiency is still a challenging issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Balancing nodes’ activities and duty cycling are efficient ways that could enhance WSN’s performances. In this paper the authors introduce a new asynchronous power saving mechanism that provides an adaptive duty cycle and a minimum overhead to achieve load balancing and energy saving. This mechanism relies on two...
متن کاملEnergy Efficiency and Reliability in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks Using Cuckoo Optimizer Algorithm
Energy efficiency and reliability are widely understood to be one of the dominant considerations for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs). In this paper, in order to maintain energy efficiency and reliability in a UWSN, Cuckoo Optimization Algorithm (COA) is adopted that is a combination of three techniques of geo-routing, multi-path routing, and Duty-Cycle mechanism. In the proposed alg...
متن کاملContention-based geographic forwarding in asynchronous duty-cycled wireless sensor networks
In asynchronous duty-cycled wireless sensor networks, it is desirable that the data forwarding scheme is adaptive to the dynamics caused by the uncertainty of sensor nodes’ working schedules. Contentionbased forwarding is designed to adapt to the dynamic environments. In this work, we are interested in the contention-based geographic forwarding (CGF) for two asynchronous duty-cycling (ADC) mode...
متن کاملRouting Hole Handling Techniques for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Review
A Wireless Sensor Network consists of several tiny devices which have the capability to sense and compute the environmental phenomenon. These sensor nodes are deployed in remote areas without any physical protections. A Wireless Sensor Network can have various types of anomalies due to some random deployment of nodes, obstruction and physical destructions. These anomalies can diminish the sensi...
متن کاملDistributed load balancing mechanism for detouring schemes of geographic routing in wireless sensor networks
Well-known ‘routing hole’ problem of geographic routing is hardly avoided in wireless sensor networks because of various actual geographical environments. Existing geographic routing protocols use perimeter routing strategies to find a detour path around the boundary of holes when they encounter the localminimum during greedy forwarding. However, this solution may lead to uneven energy consumpt...
